EVC&I had fascinating chat on the subject of EV charging reliability with Ian Mayhew of Yunex Traffic at the London EV Show. 

He gave an excellent breakdown of how current regulatory developments around the world - the US NEVI EV charging funding, the proposed UK rules requiring CPOs to deliver 99% charger reliability rates, and the forthcoming EU AFIR regulations on alternative fuels infrastructure - will impact the reliability of #EVcharging infrastructure. 

Moto Services is taking on the EV power challenge! They've added 16 new ultra-rapid Tesla chargers in Sussex, though activation is delayed until September 9 due to power constraints. CEO Ken McMeikan warns of a twelvefold increase in EV charging demand by 2030, calling for coordinated efforts to address the power supply issue.

California-based Enteligent has launched what it claims is the world’s first DC-to-DC solar hybrid bi-directional EV charger. Powered directly from the sun, Enteligent’s solar EV charger can supply 25kW of fast DC charging – three times faster than AC Level 2 EV chargers – while also supporting V2H and vehicle V2G home energy.
 

US-based WiTricity is providing its technology in China for the world's first-ever commercial use of wireless charging for autonomous electric e-buses. Read the full story and details here

Paul Maric and Alborz Fallah of Car Expert wanted to put this theory to the test over an extended road trip in Australia. They drove between Adelaide and Sydney, which is around 1,400km in a diesel Audi Q5 and a full electric Kia EV6 to see how inconvenient a regional road trip would be in an EV and also how much cheaper the road trip would be. The results were surprising!
