Nikola Corporation and Plug Power, a provider of turnkey hydrogen solutions for the global green hydrogen economy, have announced a strategic relationship focused on moving the hydrogen economy forward.

The race to decarbonise on-road vehicles is undoubtedly being led by battery-electric powertrains. However, the superior energy density of fuel cell systems, when compared to today’s Li-ion battery systems, means that they can deliver a greater range for the same system weight. 

Hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2 ICE) are forecast to be sold in 220,000 vehicles in 2035, according to newly published research by Interact Analysis.

The €7.2bn investment will transform the A22 motorway between Modena and Bolzano into one of Italy’s greenest intermodal corridors.
