Vinci Concessions has opened its first EV charging location on Germany's Deutschlandnetz national charging network.

Located in Georgsmarienhütte, Lower Saxony, the EV charging hub is the first of a total of 110 locations for which Vinci Concessions, through its eliso EV charging infrastructure subsidiary, has been awarded the 12-year contract for three regional lots in the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) tender for the Deutschlandnetz network.

eliso will therefore be responsible for the installation and operation of 824 fast charging points for electric cars at the 110 locations in northern, eastern and central Germany. Over the past few months, the company has intensively examined hundreds of potential locations for the German network. Now eliso has put the first eight ultra-fast 400kW charging points into operation in Georgsmarienhütte.

“By opening our first location in the German network, we are setting an example for the future of electro-mobility,” says eliso MD Robert Straube. “Our goal is to continuously expand the fast-charging network and strengthen the charging infrastructure across the country.”

In Georgsmarienhütte, around 10km south of Osnabrück, four Hyperchargers with eight fast-charging points and a charging capacity of up to 400 kW each are now available on Malberger Straße shortly after entering the city, with a special charging station also available for vans. The new charging hub in Georgsma-rienhütte is already the second fast-charging location that eliso has opened in Lower Saxony. From now on, e-car drivers can charge conveniently and sustainably at the conveniently located fast-charging points near the B51 federal highway thanks to 100% green electricity. Thanks to an integrated display and a credit card terminal, contactless and cashless payment is possible by credit card or by app and charging card.

The implementation of the overall project is secured by green financing of €130m, which Vinci Concessions is providing specifically for the German network project. The total investment volume for Vinci Concessions amounts to €200m.

Johannes Pallasch, head and spokesman of the national charging infrastructure control center at NOW, said: “Ultra-fast charging is now possible in Georgsma-rienhütte - an example of how well the cooperation between the federal government, operator and control center works. The location shows how targeted and needs-based charging infrastructure is now being planned and implemented.”

Outside the German network, eliso is also working daily on the expansion of an ultra-fast charging network. Currently, it is planning the implementation of 80 locations and further start-ups are planned in the coming months.

Vinci Concessions is already active in Germany through its subsidiary Vinci Highways, the leading motorway operator in the country with five public-private partnerships (PPP) adding up to more than 200 km of highways and federal roads currently in operation or under construction.
