US EV charging solutions provider Electric Era says it has set a new industry standard with an unprecedented 54-day start-to-finish installation of six 200-kWh premium EV charging stalls at a Costco Wholesale warehouse in Northport, Fla.
The project was contracted on April 7, 2025, with Electric Era construction drawings and permits submitted by April 18 and hardware delivered to the site by mid-May. Construction and testing were complete 10 days later, and the site went live on May 30, a day after the final inspection approval.
The installation time advantage is driven by Electric Era's patented battery-backed architecture, which significantly reduces peak grid input power requirements and dramatically simplifies the complexity of most installations while reducing grid power consumption up to 70%. Electric Era also manages system engineering, supply chain procurement and manufacturing in-house to further improve quality and charging reliability, while also cutting installation time.
"Our retail customers don't want their lots torn up for years, they want fast, reliable EV charging systems to help them grow their business and boost their bottom line," said Electric Era CEO Quincy Lee. "Because we manage the process from start to finish in-house, we're able deliver a significantly more efficient process across the board and complete deployments at a fraction of the time it takes other EV charger manufacturers."
The quick turnaround on site plan development and installation time also helps businesses leverage federal and state grant programs, when desired, by eliminating the need for utility upgrades and Electric Era's ability to design, engineer and manage the projects, while supporting grant proposals and the review/approval processes.
Electric Era is focused on supporting retailers, and its charging station installations come with branding and loyalty integration capabilities. Inside, Electric Era has developed a proprietary operating system that seamlessly integrates into the retailer's back-end IT systems, including point of sale, loyalty and CRM systems to tap into the growing EV customer segment to grow their business and revenues.
The new North Port Costco chargers consist of three charger units, each with one CCS and one NACS cable, and can reach up to 80% state of charge between 20 and 60 minutes, on average.
Electric Era says many national retailers are deploying its charging stations to attract new customers and expand their customer loyalty programs. Retailers can serve up personalized customer experiences on the charger's large 32-inch touchscreens to expand promotions and point of sale opportunities outside the store.
"The more innovative retailers are looking to attract affluent EV customers as a way to grow their business, which is why more are becoming hyper-focused on charge station performance and reliability," Lee said. "With our premium chargers and integrated user interface, retailers are leveraging our systems to expand their customer base and affinity programs to grow their revenues."
