Through collaboration between L’Energètica, Catalonia’s public energy company, and Endolla Barcelona, BSM’s electromobility network, over 9,000 recharging points are to be installed in public buildings and road infrastructures in Catalonia between now and 2030.
A preliminary study will be conducted on the current state of the power network and the use of the recharging infrastructure in Catalonia, analysing the forecast for future demand and trends in mobility, technology, innovation, planning and operations in electric mobility.
Endolla Barcelona has 1,027 recharging points all around the city and is the largest public recharging network in southern Europe. Usage grew by 27% in 2024 compared to the previous year, with an average of 15,000 recharges a month and more than 41,000 registered users.
The network will be implemented in four stages. With a budget of €150m, the first two stages should install 5,000 points to provide service for the Government of Catalonia’s vehicle fleet and 4,000 public access points in collaboration with the private sector.
A preliminary study will allow the third stage of the rollout process to be designed, taking into account the deficit in recharging points to ensure autonomy of circulation for drivers covering long distances, with ultrafast high-capacity recharging all around the country to help with territorial balance.
The fourth stage will be for electric buses, ensuring the continuous operation of services on all inter-urban routes, in line with the Catalan government’s concessionary conditions for public transport.
