The program aims to address the lack of charging infrastructure in some areas, offering funding to municipalities for Level 2 stations. This year's recipients are: Okotoks, AB; Lakeshore, ON; Chertsey, QC; Kedgwick, NB; Hautes-Terres, NB; Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; Bois-Joli, NB; and Cap-Acadie, NB.

Charged for Change aims to level the playing field for EV adoption by providing access to charging stations in areas with limited infrastructure. In its first year, the program delivered stations to seven Ontario municipalities.

"Every charger makes a difference," said Aviva's Paul Fletcher. "As Canada approaches its 2035 zero-emissions mandate, we hope to see more initiatives like ours that encourage Canadians to switch to EVs."

Valérie Mallamo of Earth Day Canada highlighted the program's contribution to tackling climate change by increasing EV charging options in rural areas.

Municipalities can apply for funding for year three of the program this Autumn.
