New ubitricity CEO Alexander Reinhardt

Reinhardt was previously chief operating officer of ubitricity, part of the Shell group. The appointment is effective as of 1st January 2025.

He has been a pivotal part of ubitricity since 2014, starting as a project manager before advancing to the role of COO, a position he has held for the past three years. He previously played a crucial role in building the company’s operations and driving its expansion into four markets: the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and France.

Reflecting on his new role, Reinhardt said: “Improving access to public charging is crucial for the continued adoption of electric vehicles, and I believe ubitricity can play a significant role in this transition. Having dedicated over a decade to ubitricity, I am excited to lead this company into its next chapter with Shell group as we continue to innovate and expand our EV charging network even further across Europe.”

Operating a variety of EV charging products, from lamppost to fast and rapid charge points, ubitricity says it is currently the largest public charging network in the UK with over 9,000 public charge points across 30 local authorities. The company also has more than 4,000 charge points across the Netherlands, Germany, and France.

Commenting on the appointment, outgoing CEO Daniel Kunkel who joined ubitricity in 2022, shortly after Shell’s acquisition of ubitricity said: “Having worked closely with Alexander for several years, I’m confident that his deep understanding of ubitricity’s operations and his vision for the future make him an exceptional choice for CEO.”

Kunkel added: “Over the past few years, as part of Shell group we have transformed ubitricity from a product-focused business to a leader in the European charge point industry. We’ve put the customer at the core of our strategy and grown the business to nearly 14,000 charge points. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our incredible team, and I look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.”
