Loop aims to reach multi-tenant residences with EV-Flex charger

It’s big news when a large fleet goes electric, as it should be. Yet companies such as Loop EV Charging Network realise each and every conversion is essential to widespread adoption – even if the switch isn’t worthy of a news story.

That’s why Loop’s product lineup includes the EV-Flex, which is helping to bring charging to a traditionally challenging market: tenants in multi-residential buildings.

These individual conversions can add up to a very large number. Approximately 35% of the US population lives in multi-tenant residences, defined as apartment buildings, condos and townhouses, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That puts the population of multi-tenant residents in the US at approximately 115 million.

This demographic has traditionally been difficult to reach because many of these residents don’t have access to a personal garage or driveway. Other adoption barriers can include lack of infrastructure and high installation costs.

The EV-Flex is a level 2 station that can fit into tight spaces. It is said to be affordable, compact and can be mounted on a wall, pole or pedestal.

It also offers universal compatibility (OCCP 1.6 Compliant), which helps EV chargers communicate with each other – and operate seamlessly for customers – regardless of brand or charger type.

Loop displayed several of its charging machines at the recent EV Charging Summit & Expo in Las Vegas. In addition to the EV-Flex, Loop offers:

• EV-Flex Lite, said to be Loop’s most affordable yet powerful EV solution, ideally suited to private single-family residential, public/private use multi-family, or commercial.

•  EV Fleet, which is said to get vehicles back on the road 2.5 times faster than standard level 2 chargers and at a fraction of the cost of a DC charger.

•  EV-Fast, Loop’s fast-charging smart technology that is said to be an ideal solution for retail and commercial properties with tenants or customers who need to charge in a hurry.

At the summit, Loop personnel expressed their enthusiasm about the products – and the industry.

“I love sustainability and the green space,” said Garrett DeBease, regional sales director for Loop EV Charging Network. “It’s something I’ve been passionate about for a number of years.”
